Things Dollar Tree Employees Would Like You to Know-Part 1

I started working at Dollar Tree in July of 2019. I was just a part-time associate for about 8 months. I don’t speak for all employees, but I will bet you that the majority of employees would agree with what I am about to say. Whether they are a store manager, assistant store manager, stocker, recoverer, or a cashier, just like I was, I am for sure that they know what I am talking about. Let’s get into the 10 things Dollar Tree Employees want customers to know.

One: Put your cart or basket up where it is suppose to go. It is so annoying when customers ask where to put the basket, when they literally could just put it where it is suppose to go-where they found it. I had so many customers ask me, “Where do I put the this [basket]?” Or they would hold the basket while looking around like an idiot trying to find where the basket goes. For the majority of the time I would just take the basket from them and start a stack behind my register. Although, sometimes they are already putting the basket in random spots; so, I just let them.

For carts, some customers would not even put the cart up, they would just leave it there. In front of the register, for the next customer to run into it. Then there are the other customers who just push it where ever they want. So the next thing I know, there’s 5 carts going all which way where people are trying to dodge the carts. Then there are the customers who leave the carts outside. You could at least push it inside the doors. I just don’t understand how difficult putting something back can be for grown adults.

Please, put the cart or basket you used back where it belongs.

Two: Do you have this or that? Dollar Tree stores get so many customers coming in and asking if we have something. Whether they saw it on Tik Tok or their Facebook group they are in. They want the product. Basically, if you don’t see it, then we don’t have it. That is what I always said to customers. It was fast an easy, so I can go back to what I was doing. And don’t ask if there are any of whatever in the backroom because we aren’t about to dig through 1,000 boxes to find the one item you want.

The majority of items are $1, a good deal. We have people coming in to buy $50 and $100 or more worth of stuff. Stores sell out fast, some more than others. It depends on where your store is located, the population, and if there are more stores around that store.
